Boston-Edison District

Grand, historic homes close to downtown

The Lowdown

A diverse neighborhood with an impressive collection of stately homes, the Boston-Edison District is one of the most well-known areas of the city. Just four miles north of downtown, residents enjoy the convenient location and proximity to local amenities. The district is bordered by Linwood Street on the west, Woodward on the east, Boston Boulevard on the north, and Edison Street on the south. The neighborhood was developed by storied Detroit citizens and boasts a variety of architectural styles from luxurious mansions with high-level craftsmanship and quality materials to modest two-story homes. From English Revivals to Italian Renaissance styles, homes in Boston-Edison can be breathtaking. The community’s enthusiastic residents make up the Historic Boston-Edison Association, who are dedicated to their mission of safeguarding the value, character, and appearance of the homes and neighborhood.

The Nitty Gritty

The Boston-Edison District offers a mix of beautiful homes, ranging in size with stone or brick exteriors and historic interior features. Homes on the market can range from about $30,000 to some of the most expensive in the area, with the larger more ornate homes, closer to Woodward Avenue on the higher end of that price point. Lower priced homes tend to be outside the historic core and/or require significant rehabilitation work. Check out home rental opportunities in the district on Zillow or Hotpads.
